Bounenaki 忘年会 and Karaoke カラオケ
Bounenaki (忘年会, literally "forget the year gathering") is a Japanese
party that takes place at the end of the year, December, and is generally
held among groups of co-workers or friends. The purpose of the party, as
its name implies, is to forget the woes and troubles of the past year,
and hopefully look to the new year. In this year, we held in a most excellent
seafood restaurant in our city, Yamaguchi city. We invited also children
or wife of forgign students.
Karaoke (カラオケ, bimoraic clipped compound of Japanese kara 空 "empty"
and ōkesutora オーケストラ "orchestra") is a form of interactive
entertainment in which amateur singers sing along with recorded music
video using a microphone and public address system. The music is
typically a well-known pop song minus the lead vocal. Lyrics are usually
displayed on a video screen, along with a moving symbol, changing color,
or music video images, to guide the singer. In this year, we enjoed
Karaoke after the Bounenkai party. We sing together Japanese or English
pop sogs, and danced sometimes.
