DNA sequence can be analyzed by the dideoxy-reaction, in which complementary DNA fragments of various length are synthesized from a target DNA. DNA fragments labeled with a fluorescent dye are electrophoresed and analyzed automatically with the DNA sequencer. The LI-COR model 4000L can analyze twelve samples of about 1000 base-long in a day.
